SAB NewsSAB Director Serves As Science Advisor for Protein-Protein Interaction ConferencePosted 10/25/2002 Protein-protein interactions play an integral role in developing the next generation of drug targets and therapeutics. Last year, The Science Advisory Board carefully examined the tools and technologies of protein research as part of an eight-part study on proteomics. This study received wide attention from the scientific community. As a follow-up to that project, The Science Advisory Board’s director, Dr. Tamara Zemlo, was invited to speak at the international Proteomics: Delivering New Routes to Drug Discovery conference and summarize the results from that study earlier this year. Since then, she as served as one of two scientific advisors for an upcoming conference, Protein-Protein Interactions: Unraveling Protein Functions for Drug Targets, which will occur November 4-6, 2002 in New Jersey. This conference will summarize the latest advancements and technologies for protein informatics and protein-protein interactions. Dr. Zemlo provided insights from The Science Advisory Board’s protein-protein interactions study when helping develop the conference topics and identify speakers. Researchers involved in all phases of drug discovery research involving protein interactions are invited to attend to find out how to better manage, integrate and analyze their protein data. They will learn about new high-throughput screening platforms that have been developed to determine interactions and how protein arrays and microfluidics are greatly contributing to this field of study.
