Winners of the 2006 Life Science Industry Awards Announced
Posted 4/11/2006

Mike Kibler, Executive Director of The Science
Advisory Board and Jim Shea of Fisher Scientific Research

The Science Advisory Board, together with The Scientist, and The Life Science Executive Exchange paid tribute to those companies who have made the greatest contributions to life science technology in the past year.  The 2006 Life Science Industry Awards were presented at a reception April 3, 2006 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.  This event featured Ira Flatow from National Pubic Radio (NPR) as the Master of Ceremonies.  The Keynote Speaker was Terry Sharrer, Ph.D., Curator, Health Sciences, at the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institution.

The Science Advisory Board invited a number of prominent scientists to attend this event.  Kenneth C. Anderson, MD, from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston was in attendance, as well as Professor W. Martin Kast, Professor of Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, University of Southern California/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The nominees, finalists and winners of the Life Science Industry Awards are determined by the scientists who use these products and services in their daily research.  Over 2,400 life scientists from around the world (including many members of The Science Advisory Board) cast their votes for the companies named “best-in-class" in each of the 12 product categories and six communications and support categories.
