Nano Technology Enabled Sensors
by Korosh K Zadeh, Benjamin Fry
Springer, 2008

In this book, the authors present sensors that utilize nanotechnology for various purpsoes.  It is a multidisciplinary area which requires  a working knowledge of various diverse fields. The authors spent over three and a half years in writing the book.

The book can be used as a tool in research labs, industry and in the classroom for graduate preparation.  It may be safe to add that the field is changing rapidly and that many of the new advances would be text book material in a short span of time.

After going through some chapters on physics, the book proceeds through fabrication methods.  Inorganic and organic sensors are covered, then surface aspects.

The use of proteins and protein based sensors is also covered,
and a final chapter is included on DNA enabled sensors, which would certainly appeal to many in the biotech industry and biotech research areas.

Characterisation methods using spectroscopy are covered along with theoretical discussions.

Various examples are given in the book which makes it a practical aid for those wishing to get their hands in the subject.

On the con side, the size of the book is formidable (500 odd pages) along with the price. It appears to be slanted to spectroscopy and physics of the thin layers.

The book is referenced as ISBN 978-0387-324739.
