Menarini launches imaged-based cell sorter

By The Science Advisory Board staff writers

May 27, 2021 -- Menarini Silicon Biosystems has launched DEPArray Plus, an automated image-based cell sorter featuring nine fluorescent channels.

The technology combines microelectronics and microfluidics to isolate rare cells from mixed cellular samples. Built-in software allows for rapid selection of cells with a high level of accuracy, reproducibility, and image quality. The system is compatible with a variety of rare cell suspensions, including live and fixed cells, small cell loads, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues, and liquid biopsies.

Additional fluorescent channels provide expanded ability to better characterize different cell populations from complex heterogenous samples. The new DEPArray technology optimizes the user experience, reduces hands-on time, and speeds up sample processing, according to the firm.

The flexible system allows researchers to prepare samples according to their own protocols or use sample preparation kits. DEPArray Plus is fully integrated with blood samples prepared with the Menarini Silicon Biosystems CTC enrichment technologies, CellSearch and CellMag, allowing further isolation and delivery of pure single cells ready for genetic analysis.
